Zooburst is a digital story-telling website, with a great bonus feature. The virtual books it creates have pop-up pages and if you have a web-cam, they become augmented reality.
Try it out. If you have a webcam, click on the arrow, then on "Webcam View", then allow the programme to access your camera. Click on "always on screen" and voila!!!
To create one for yourself, go to the website above. The site is still in testing, so you'll need to apply for an account here. In a couple of days, they'll email you with your account details. You can change the password in "My Profile" once you're logged in.
After logging in, click on "My Stuff" and then "Create a new book".
Give the book a title (this can be changed later, when you're ready to publish it).
You'll get a page that looks like this.
4. You can now start adding pictures and text.
5. Change the page ground colour and book background on the right.
6. Type your story where it says "What is happening on this page?".
7. Search for pictures in "public stuff" or upload your own from your computer. Just click on the picture you want and it'll be added to the page.Clker.com is a good place to get pictures.
8. Drag the pictures to where you want them and adjust the pop-up settings, size, etc if you wan to on the right.
9. Click on each picture to add a chat bubble.
10. Click on "Add Page" to add a page! You can have up to 10.
11. When you're done, click on "Save Book".
12. Change the title if you want to and/or add tags and a description.
13. Go to "My Stuff" to view the books you've created.
14. You can get the code to embed in a blog or wiki by clicking on "Embed this book...".
To view with augmented reality (you definitely want to try this):
You have 2 choices, both requiring a webcam. Make sure the webcam is connected and click on the big blue arrow to start your book, click on "Webcam Mode", then allow the programme to access your camera. Choose one of these options:
A) Click on the black and white "ZB" to print the icon out. Hold it up to your camera and watch you book pop out. You can angle it any way you want.
B) Click on "always on screen" and it'll pop out on its own, no printing necessary.
Click on "Screen Mode" to exit webcam.
